Academic criticism is often labeled as being behind closed doors, or to a very narrow audience.  Criticism, however, is an active, communal, public thing.  It gets debated, discussed and argued in both books and in person.  This makes streaming platforms, like Twitch, amazing places to perform criticism– as it brings transparency to the critiquing process, and allows for the streamers to interact with chat.

ScholarsPlay is an academic criticism twitch channel, with several streamers from the Center for Games and Playable Media.  We critique games both new and old, and broadcast on Fridays at 4pm PST.
